Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information Mackinac County Released Inmates receives, how it is used, and when another party may receive it. By using the site, you accept the practices described here.

Information You Submit

Terms Sent to Search Tools

A name, place, or other detail entered into an outside search tool is transmitted to the third-party company that supplies that tool. Mackinac County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms control its handling of the query.

Messages You Send

If you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the message and contact details as needed to answer. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Information Collected Automatically

Normal website systems may record basic technical and usage details when a page loads. Those logs can contain:

  • Your Internet Protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device class and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when available
  • Date and time stamps

Cookies

Cookies help measure how visitors move through the site. You may block them through your browser, although some functions may then work differently or not remember a prior choice.

How Information Is Used

Collected information supports the site’s operation and helps us understand whether Mackinac County record-navigation pages work as intended. We may use it to:

  • Operate the site and maintain reasonable performance
  • Send a search request to the selected partner service
  • Measure which pages visitors find useful
  • Identify faults, misuse, and technical problems
  • Display advertising that may reflect general interests

Websites Beyond Our Control

Links may lead to the Mackinac County Sheriff, MDOC, MI-VINE, courts, federal locators, release-record resources, or outside search services. After you leave this site, the destination’s own privacy policy applies.

Some advertising companies may use their systems to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based advertising. That cross-site tracking occurs under the advertising company’s practices, not as a Mackinac County government function.

When Data May Be Shared

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be handled by:

  • Search partners that process a submitted query
  • Analytics providers that measure site traffic
  • Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
  • Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order

Reasonable Security Measures

We use standard safeguards suited to a public website and limit data handling where practical. No internet service, storage system, or transmission can be promised as fully secure or immune from a breach.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Get in Touch page to request deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and our ability to identify the relevant data, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Ask that eligible personal information be erased
  • Opt out of certain processing where that right applies

Changes to This Notice

We may revise this privacy notice as the site, vendors, or legal requirements change. A revised version becomes effective when posted here with its new effective date.
